It is wise never to forget the laws of toddler math. One of the most basic and simple formulas to remember: giving your toddler a bit of time to herself + silence = trouble.
There's no realistic way for parents to be everywhere at all moments, but we would do well to always keep our parental perceptive abilities alert at all times.
Case in point. During one of hubby's recent trips for work, I made the mistake of not remembering to close the bathroom door...and you know, being busy making dinner in the kitchen while bugga played about in the family room. Before long there was silence..no more cheery chattering and squawking, no responses to my singing and calling her name.
So I dash out of the kitchen and discover:
