A few months ago my mom came for a visit. And she brought a heavy dose of nostalgia with her in the form of boxes of clutter that I had left at her house thinking it would magically meld into the sea of memories that is "home" and assuming I'd never have to see it again. You know, the kind things from the days of living "at home" that meant a lot to you at some time, but that you gradually grow out of : yearbooks, silly photos you took with your friends that make absolutely no sense to you as an adult, notes from highschool, and various other trinkets.
Alas, my parents foiled my plan of "forgetting" my stashes of stuff in their efforts to actually, you know, claim their house as their own and purge the belongings of their children. So I had to at last deal with the boxes. As I suspected, most of the items had lost their luster for me, but some were fun to revisit.
